How a SR Screen Changer works

The melt is divided into two channels; each of them leads to a screen chamber. After flowing through the screens the two channels join again.
In order to clean the filter elements, one bolt at a time is moved hydraulically into a position that blocks the flow channel. The filter element to be cleaned becomes accessible from the outside; the scraper on the cleaning device removes the impurities that have collected on the filter element. The second screen maintains the entire melt flow during a cleaning procedure.
After the filter has been cleaned, the bolt is moved back into the housing. Before reaching the production position the cleaned screen chamber is flooded with melt in a predetermined position, thus securing trouble free production.
